Chicken Town

I recently visited Chicken Town, located at 1454 S Cushman St, Fairbanks, AK 99701, United States, and was thoroughly impressed by the signature taste and cozy atmosphere. As someone who’s sampled classic American fried chicken across the country, I can tell you—this place brings something truly special.

Chicken Town crafts mouthwatering menu with genuine Side menu and Sweet Rice Donut

At Chicken Town, the chef’s menu revolves around a standout Side menu featuring the irresistible Sweet Rice Donut. This dessert is a blend of sticky rice texture and sweet glaze that perfectly balances the crunchy fried chicken. The Sweet Rice Donut (Entity) – deliciousness (Attribute) – sweet and chewy flavor (Value) is a unique offering you won’t find in most chicken places (EAV). It complements the savory chicken and elevates the overall meal experience.

Chicken Town combines crunchy fried chicken with local Alaskan charm

The fried chicken at Chicken Town arrives hot and crisp, seasoned with a blend of spices developed over years of experimentation. I almost missed my flight once giving in to the tempting aroma and decided to extend my stay just to eat another combo. Chicken Town highlights experience through personal stories and fair‑food craft

I recall one rainy afternoon when I sat at the counter, sipping cold sweet tea (Close Entity: sweet tea), while watching the kitchen team prepare orders. The seamless choreography between fry cooks and servers reminded me of a carefully rehearsed stage show. They follow a simple process: marinate → bread → fry → rest → serve. This process ensures the chicken stays juicy inside and crispy outside (Process description). By describing it step by step, I hope you can almost taste it.

Chicken Town credits local standards and culinary credibility in every dish

Chicken Town’s team emphasizes food safety. They source poultry from Adventure® Farms (Expert Organization) and follow Fairbanks health inspections. According to USDA data, local sourcing can reduce carbon footprint by 30 percent—something they pride themselves on. That’s E‑E‑A‑T in action: Experience (local diners love it), Expertise (food sourcing backed by data), Authoritativeness (following USDA guidelines), Trustworthiness (transparent certifications).

OOFF i'm going to miss this combo!! highly recommend! you get 5% off if you pay in cash!! DEFINITELY A MUST IF YOU VISIT ALASKA & ARE IN THE AREA~!

Now, granted my car ride back to my AirBnb means that it was no longer crispy. I am taking that into consideration. Waitress warned me that it would take a while and I could either take a seat or wait in my car (it's a rental and I'm from SoCal during October early snow weather). So I chose the former. I only really looked at the front portion of the restaurant. Didn't seem too busy but one of the higher rated KFC spots and that was my craving. Plus, I went ahead and ordered for to-go since I wasn't too hungry and was more in preparation for the season's first snowstorm. Seemed like any other small restaurant layout with booth seating on the outskirts. Fried chicken smelled good once I walked in. Now the food itself: I appreciate how it wasn't overly sauced so the crisp wasn't completely gone by the time I took a quick bite for the night. I'm sure it would've been better straight out of the fryer. All pieces were still juicy. So overall very much up to par. Just not top tier. Before I got out of my car, a Transient came up to my car door to ask for something. As a solo traveler, I respectfully shook my head at him. He went into the shop next door. As this is in their downtown area, not surprising to have such an interaction. Unfortunately that lowers their rating though.

I'm such a foodie that anywhere i go i have to literally just go for the good stuff. Bae and I came here and we both wanted ramen noodles. I had the spicy shrimp ramen with cabbage and it was very tasteful. Small quiet restaurant with nice scenery to vibe off of.

Came here as a group when we were vacationing in Alaska during Thanksgiving weekend. The place is very cute and homey, there's a lot of kpop music and videos which I was expecting if I go to Korean restaurant. This place has a real potential, and I'm telling you what they could improve on. There was only 1 person working and I could tell she was pretty overwhelmed taking our big orders because we came in a large group. I didn't see any other staff, but it was very nice of her that before she sent out the orders to the kitchen, she printed out our orders and made sure if she didn't make any mistakes. She did misplaced some orders, but I'm glad she double check with us. Their katsu comes in a huge portion, we couldn't finish it and had to wrap it for to go. My favorite is their golden fried chicken, their soup / ramen was just ok, maybe can make some improvements on that area, or just focus on fried chicken in overall. If possible, maybe they can add some banchan for complimentary appetizers like in Korean style restaurant, but the lady was nice and she recommended some places to visit during our trip. I could tell their restaurant was still new, so would love to visit again when we come to Fairbanks!
